Orange County Land Trust Message

URGENT - Today is EPF Call-in Day!

Urgent Message from Orange County Land Trust:

Tuesday, May 11 is our 2nd EPF Call-in Day!

Please Call our NYS Leaders in the Assembly and Senate and Urge Them to Restore EPF Funding to $222 million!

As you know, the state budget process in Albany remains stalled and the fate of the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) and other important environmental funding remains uncertain. In order to keep the EPF in the forefront of the minds of our legislative leadership, we have designated a second EPF call in day for Tuesday, May 11th. Our last call in day made an impact on legislative leaders and we thank you for your efforts. We will continue to focus on the leadership in both houses with calls to Senator Sampson and Assemblyman Silver.

We are counting on your help!

Governor Paterson has cut funding for the State's environmental agencies and parks to the bone. He cut $69 million from the Environmental Protection Fund, which protects the things we love most in New York State-our parks and zoos, our drinking water, natural areas and farmland, and much more.

Last year, the Legislature successfully restored some of these critical funds during budget negotiations.

It's not too late to do it again this year. Join us and thousands of New Yorkers on Tuesday, May 11th, to call our top leaders and tell them to keep protecting New York by restoring our Environmental Protection Fund in the State Budget.

  • Call Senate Leader John Sampson at (518) 455-2788
  • Call Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver at (518) 455-3791
Here's what you should say to Senator Sampson and Speaker Silver:
  1. Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME HERE] and I live in [YOUR TOWN HERE]. I'm following up on my call last month to tell Senator Sampson/Speaker Silver to show his love for New York by restoring the Environmental Protection Fund in the State Budget.

  2. Our Environmental Protection Fund protects what I love most about New York.

  3. The Senator/Speaker should restore the Fund to $222 million in the State Budget.

Thank you for your continued support of land protection and conservation.
