Come celebrate Orange County Day on one of the Orange County Land Trust’s most scenic and biologically diverse nature preserves- the 150-acre Moonbeams Preserve in the Town of Wallkill.
The Land Trust will sponsor a guided, mild to moderate hike on Sunday, June 14 as part of the Orange County Day festivities beginning at 10 am which is suitable for all ages. The hike, led by Dr. Jennifer Merriam, a biology professor at SUNY Orange, will focus on the flaura and fauna found within the preserve, especially around Peg’s Pond, the Shawangunk Kill and the fields and wetlands around Bear Swamp. It is suitable for all ages.
Moonbeams Preserve was donated to the Orange County Land Trust by the Nature Conservancy. It is open to the public free of charge for passive recreation such as hiking, birding and nature study. Directions to the preserve can be found on our website at oclt.org, and clicking on “Protected Lands”. Registration for this event is not required.
