OCLT Receives NYS Conservation Partnership Program Grant

The Orange County Land Trust has been awarded a $62,000 grant through the New York State Conservation Partnership Program to protect water resources in the Delaware River Watershed.

“The Basher Kill, Neversink, and Mongaup Rivers are treasures of Orange County that cannot be replaced,” stated Matt Decker, the Land Trust’s Director of Conservation and Stewardship. “Sustaining the high quality of these and other tributaries of the Delaware River requires a range of conservation tools, including on-the-ground measures such as large-scale tree plantings and streambank stabilization,” said Decker.

The Land Trust is grateful to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Land Trust Alliance for supporting these efforts, as well as Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature for their commitment to the Environmental Protection Fund, which makes Conservation Partnership Program Grant funding possible.
